Charity partner profile | Sharks Community Discretionary Fund
Sharks Community Discretionary Fund creates a pool of money for distribution to various organisations in need, allowing Southport Sharks to support causes aligning with our values and vision, on an ad-hoc basis. This fund became a charity partner in 2014 and as of the beginning of 2020 has received $90,000 in funding.
What projects have Southport Sharks supported through the Discretionary Fund?
Recent projects supported by membership donations include
- Burrumbuttock Hay Run – purchase of hay bales
- Water for the West – water for drought-affected areas
- Rosies. Friends on the Streets – salads for Christmas Day lunch for homeless persons
- Camp Quality – family dinners for children dealing with cancer
- Gold Coast Academy of Sport – scholarships
