Southport Sharks is a premier sport, leisure and entertainment precinct located on the Gold Coast.
From humble beginnings at Owen Park in 1961 to becoming a community leader in sport, leisure and entertainment today, we take pride in entertaining our members. Southport Sharks hosts over a million visitors annually and is one of the largest clubs in Queensland and one of the Gold Coast’s leading clubs with over 55,000 members.
Whilst we have grown in stature, we remain ingrained within the local community and proud to be a key stakeholder in the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, with health, fitness and education a priority to Southport Sharks.
Sharks offer a multi-purpose events centre, two restaurants, a café, five bars, two AFL grade ovals, sports facilities, modern 24/7 fitness centre, kids club, gaming facilities and free weekly entertainment, plus a 120-room Mantra hotel.
Southport Sharks has a strong commitment to the local community and while we are a not-for-profit community club, we have a commercial focus. To demonstrate the clubs committed to the local Gold Coast community, the Sharks Community Benefit Fund was established in 2008 providing financial support, and Sharks Community Study and Development Program offers students on the job experience.
Our football team
When a spirited Australian rules football team of 22 players takes to the field, they are supported by around one thousand individuals – including team members, junior players and administration personnel – who proudly wear the Sharks colours. In 2020, we proudly field our first senior women’s football team.
