During the week, volunteers from the Southport Sharks management team took a meaningful step by donating blood at the Southport Australian Red Cross office in support of National Blood Donor Week.
National Blood Donor Week serves as a poignant reminder that, despite the vital need for blood, only a fraction of Australians currently donate. Less than 1 in 30 Australians contribute their blood, while 1 in 3 of us will require a blood transfusion during our lifetime. The impact of a single blood donation cannot be understated, as it has the potential to save up to 3 lives. Through the combined effort of our management team, four donations were made, including two plasma donations and two whole blood donations. These donations will have a positive impact on an estimated 12 lives.
Our dedication to the cause doesn’t stop at National Blood Donor Week. Southport Sharks has an ongoing partnership with the Red Cross, enabling our staff, members, and affiliates to donate blood conveniently at any Red Cross office. Together, we can continue making a difference in the lives of those in need.
