On Friday, July 2 the Queensland Government advised that the lockdown will extend for 24 hours in the Brisbane and Moreton Bay local government areas to keep Queenslanders safe.

In recognising the expanse of the South East Queensland football network and the many participants, officials and umpires that travel across various local government areas to play and officiate, AFL Queensland has made the decision to abandon all matches in South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales this weekend.

As a result, the scheduled Round 11 QFAW game between Southport and Moreton Bay will not go ahead on Saturday Afternoon at Moreton Bay Sporting Complex.

AFL Queensland will provide an update on Monday regarding the impact of abandoning the games and next weekend’s matches.

This does not affect the VFL fixture, as there were no matches scheduled to be played in Queensland this weekend.

The health and safety of the community remain the highest priority for our code. Southport Sharks will continue to be guided by advice from the AFL, Queensland Government, and health authorities.
