Using his attention to detail and 30+ years of fine dining experience, Socky has led Carmody’s to its renowned reputation today. It is truly a restaurant worthy of carrying the name of Gerry Carmody, one of Southport Shark’s founders.
Born in Goa, India, Socky followed in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and great grandfather, working for the Pacific and Orient shipping company. After completing his studies, Socky started working for P&O Cruises in the early 1980’s. During his time at sea, he travelled around the world on various ships, such as the Canberra, the Oriana and the Love Boat throughout the world. While based in Sydney, Socky met his wife, Kathryn before moving to the Gold Coast where they have remained for the last 30 years, raising sons Kane and Deon.
