Kool Beanz Academy's new centre to open in December

The Southport Sharks welcome the arrival of the 2023 QAFLW Fixture, which AFLQ have announced today.

In 2023, the Southport Sharks QAFLW Seniors will be looking to go one better, and our Reserves will be vying for back to back Premierships, in their second year in the competition.

The Seniors will not have to wait long to get redemption on University of Queensland (UQ), who defeated them in extra time in the Grand Final last year.

They play each other in Round 1 on a blockbuster day in Springfield, at the Brisbane Lion’s new training and admin facility, Brighton Homes Arena.

The Sharks’ VFL team will also be playing at Brighton Homes Arena on the same day against the Brisbane Lions.

There will be four VFL/QAFLW triple headers at Fankhauser Reserve this year: 29 April, 13 May, 3 June and 24 June.

Assistant Football Manager David Ashkar said, “It is fantastic to have five triple headers this year. We are three teams but one club, so to be able to play at the same venue on the same day so many times is great.”

There are eight clubs in the QAFLW in 2023: Aspley, Bond University, Coorparoo, Maroochydore, Southport, UQ, Wilston Grange and Yeronga, with each club having a Seniors and Reserves team.

This year, there will be 16 Rounds, including three competition byes. Each club will play everyone twice, home and away.

Finals start on August 12 and the Grand Final will be played on Sunday, August 27.
