Three of the Shark’s experienced campaigners re-sign for 2023 – Mitch Johnson, Tom Fields and Matt Doran.

Johnson and Doran are both premiership players at the club, and Tom Fields has played 48 games at the club since arriving in 2019.

Southport Coach Steve Daniel said, “It is so good that these three have re-signed for 2023. They have all played a pivotal role in our transition from a NEAFL club to a VFL club not just on the field but off the field as well.”

Mitch Johnson missed a large chunk of the season due to a PCL injury in Round 2, but came back in Round 13 and played the second half of the season.

Johnson has now kicked over 150 goals for the Sharks in his five seasons at the club.

Tom Fields kicked 23 goals for the Sharks this year with a number of those being kicked from outside 50.

The former Carlton player and Labrador junior has also been a part of the Sharks leadership group since he joined the club.

Matt Doran battled with a knee injury in 2022 after injuring it against Footscray in Round 5.
