We wish to advise that Bob Langford has announced his retirement from the Board of Directors of Southport Sharks.

Bob and his wife Cheryl relocated from Tasmania to the Gold Coast in May 1980. After arriving on a Saturday, they attended the Broadwater Cup at Dux Oval the next day between Southport v Labrador.

Bob and Cheryl believed the best way to connect with the local community was through football and this started their long-term association with the Southport Football Club. Bob became a committee member of the juniors and both he and Cheryl assisted the club by working in the canteen on game day with Ray and Anne Devine. In 1995, Bob joined the senior club Board and was elevated to Vice President in 2004.

As one of our longest serving board members, Bob played an integral role in the development and success of our football club for almost 30 years. During his tenure as Director and Vice President, he served the club with distinction, pride and commitment.

Bob supported hundreds of players throughout his time as a volunteer of our football department and his involvement in the recently completed upgrade to our playing fields will serve as a long-lasting legacy for one of our most loyal life members.

On behalf of the Board, management, staff and players, thank you Bob for your commitment to Southport Australian Football Club and we wish you all the best for your future.
