The Southport Sharks have signed Coburg’s 2023 Best and Fairest Ben Jepson for the 2024 VFL season.
After three seasons at Coburg, the former Oakleigh Charger is moving North to the Gold Coast.
In 2023, Jepson averaged 25 disposals, five marks, seven rebound 50s and two tackles a game as a rebounding defender.
His best game of the season was in Round 5 against Box Hill, who were preliminary finalists in 2023, where he had 34 disposals, three tackles and 13 marks.
The 22 year old was also named a finalist in the 2023 Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal (VFL Rising Star) at the VFL Awards held in September.
Southport’s General Manager of Football Operations, Jarrod Field, said, “Ben is an exciting player and he still has a chance of playing AFL, so we think that it is great that he has decided to come to the Sharks for the next stage of his football journey and development.”
“We wanted to bolster our defence over the off-season, and to be able to add someone of Ben’s calibre helps us do that.”
