Southport Sharks Care Boxes for Defence Force

This ANZAC Day, one of our Company Director’s Rick Fankhauser and his wife Lyndy were kind enough to put together 20 care packages for our deployed troops via Veterans 360, a registered charity that aims to raise awareness and provide ongoing support for homeless veterans throughout Australia.

On any given night it is estimated that around 3,000 Australian Defence Force veterans are sleeping in conditions that are classified as homeless. Veterans 360 respond and actively look for veterans all around Australia who are living rough or otherwise experiencing homelessness. Their aim is to reach out to and connect with these veterans – in person – as soon as possible after identifying they are in need of immediate assistance. Veterans 360 also organise the delivery of care packages, free of charge, to our deployed troops every ANZAC Day.

Rick and Lyndy kindly donated their time to put together a number of boxes containing a Southport Sharks jersey along with some traditional Aussie treats like Tim Tams, Shapes and Twisties. These care boxes were sent out to our deployed troops to make their experience that little bit easier and give them a little taste of home. If you would like to send a package, find out more information via the Veterans 360 Facebook page.

We’d like to thank Rick and Lyndy for their thoughtfulness and generosity, the troops would’ve loved it!
