Andrew Boston will return to the Sharks in 2023 as an Assistant Coach.

Boston was captain of the club from 2017 to when he retired from VFL at the end of 2021.

The Southport Junior played 79 senior games for the club, was the 2018 Premiership Co-Captain, and the 2016 and 2019 Doc Mackenzie Medalist (Southport Best & Fairest).

Before joining the Sharks in 2016, Boston played 16 AFL games for the Gold Coast Suns.

In 2022, he played for Labrador in the QAFL, but in 2023 he will be back at the Sharks as a coach to begin his coaching journey.

Boston said, “I’m very happy to be back. I missed the people and culture here. It’s going to be different being a coach and not a player, but it is a challenge I’m looking forward to.”

“The reason I’m most excited about coaching is I just want to give back and pass on my knowledge. I’m also really excited to work with the likes of Matt Primus and Steve Daniel who are terrific coaches.”

Steve Daniel welcomes Boston back and said he is really looking forward to having him on his coaching team.

“He was a fantastic player and he has a tremendous knowledge of not only the game but our gameplan as well. So, I know he is going to do a great job in helping our players implement the game style we want to play as well as helping develop their game individually.”
