Southport Sharks are proud to announce that this year’s Golden Shark Award goes to Cameron Smith, our Football Media & Communications Coordinator. This accolade recognises the unwavering dedication, passion and hard work Cam has shown across all facets of Southport Sharks during his four years with the organisation.
Cameron’s journey began as a volunteer with the Sharks in 2020, to then be employed in 2021 as our Football Media Coordinator. During his initial years at Sharks, Cam also spent time helping behind the bar during off-season, in turn building prosperous relationships with departments outside of Football & Marketing. His career has been marked by significant achievements, including winning last year’s Bill Wood Club Person of the Year Award, showcasing his commitment to exceed expectations within the club.
Cam’s role has continued to evolve due to his own personal growth and the expansion of his skillset & capabilities, reflected in his current position of Football Media & Communications Coordinator. He is widely respected by players, staff, and the community for his ability to go above and beyond, all the while making everyone around him feel valued and heard. His daily efforts ensure that no Sharks game highlight, player media release, or community story goes untold.
This year, Cameron was one of nine employees to receive a Silver Shark Award. The other exceptional members of our team who were named Silver Sharks are: Shannon Lui, Rui Sakamoto, Mel Gilmour, Rachel Keepa, Mel Smith, Megan Jones, Katie Robbie and Marco Gozalves. Each nominee has demonstrated outstanding dedication, and we are thrilled to celebrate their contributions alongside Cameron’s achievement.
In recognition of his latest well-earned award, Cameron’s name will be added to the honour board in the main foyer of the club, symbolising his impactful contributions over the years.
The entire Sharks community expresses its gratitude for Cameron’s dedication and looks forward to his continued success in promoting and enhancing the club’s legacy.
Congratulations, Cameron!
