The Southport Sharks welcome former Geelong and Port Adelaide player Wylie Buzza to the club.
Originally from Gatton, West of Brisbane, Buzza was drafted to Geelong at pick 69 in the 2015 National Draft and played 9 AFL games in his four seasons at the club.
He spent a year on Port Adelaide’s list in 2020 but didn’t play any AFL games in his time at Power.
After being de-listed by Port Adelaide at the end of the 2020 AFL season, Buzza played the last three seasons in the VFL for Werribee (2021) and Brisbane Lions (2022, 2023).
In 2024, he will lace up for the Southport Sharks, which Southport’s General Manager of Football Operations, Jarrod Field is very happy about.
Field said, “Although I know he would love to be still playing AFL, he is a quality footballer, and we believe he still has a lot to offer, especially at this level.”
“He is going to be an important cog in the machine for us next year, as we look to climb back up the ladder.”
