The Southport Sharks welcome young guns Taine Dawson and Cody Harrington from Broadbeach and the Suns.
Dawson won the QAFL Rising Star Award this year, averaging 16 disposals, five marks, three clearances, 28 hitouts and three tackles in his ten games.
The 18-year-old also played five games for the Suns Academy in the Coates League and a VFL game for the Suns in 2023.
Harrington made his senior QAFL debut for the Broadbeach Cats as a 16-year-old in 2021.
He then played nine senior games for the Cats in 2021 and was part of Broadbeach’s premiership team.
In 2022, he played another nine games for Broadbeach, three games for the Suns Academy’s Coates League team and four games for the Gold Coast Sun’s VFL team.
Then, in 2023, he played another five games for the Sun’s VFL team and 13 games for Broadbeach.
Southport’s General Manager of Football Operations, Jarrod Field, said “We are delighted to have another two young Gold Coasters joining us.”
“Dawson and Cody have a lot of potential and we are excited to see what they can do at the Sharks.”
