Here at Southport Sharks we are lucky to have hardworking and dedicated individuals who make up our great network of staff.
We would like to show our appreciation to a particular team member who exemplifies Sharks qualities of honesty, teamwork and high performance. Meet one of our Duty Managers, Trent Maloney.
Trent commenced employment with Southport Sharks in February 2008 as a Bar Attendant and in 2009, undertook a Certificate IV in Frontline Management. This qualification provided him with strong leadership skills and by 2010 Trent had secured a position as Team Leader. His passion for learning and leading people has always been evident and in 2011, Trent, along with a number of other managers, he completed a Diploma of Management with the support and funding of Southport Sharks.
In 2012, he was appointed to the role of Duty Manager and decided to take his education to the next level. He studied at Southern Cross University to receive a Bachelor of Business and Hospitality Management, majoring in Gaming in 2015. He completed his security license the following year and has been a Health and Safety Representative for the club since. Trent finalised his studies by completing a Gamers Managers Development course at the end of 2018.
“I love being part of a sporting club and what that represents, supporting the community and football from the grass roots. A great part of my role is being able to interact with patrons and staff out on the floor and achieve positive outcomes. I have always loved being part of the club and having the opportunity to develop and appreciate the support I have received” – Trent Maloney
Trent loves to try new beer varieties in the club, his favourites being Mountain Goat Ale and Big Head. We thank Trent for all his hard work and look forward to many more years of having him on staff here at Sharks. If you see him around the club, don’t forget to say hello!
