The Southport Sharks would like to thank outgoing QAFLW Senior Coach Ryan Davis for his service to the club.
Davis recently advised the club that he was no longer in a position to coach the club in season 2023 and has retired as a VFL player.
After joining the club as a player in the men’s program in 2018, he began as the inaugural senior women’s coach in 2020.
In his three seasons as the senior women’s coach, his teams won two premierships, got promoted to the QAFLW and made the QAFLW Grand Final in 2022.
He was awarded the 2022 QAFLW Coach of the Year for his efforts.
Southport Football General Manager – Jarrod Field said, “It is sad to see Ryan go. He has done a tremendous job establishing our women’s football program and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Davis has also retired from playing at the VFL level.
He played 44 senior games and is a 2018 NEAFL premiership player.
In the 2018 NEAFL Grand Final he was named the Andrew Ireland Medalist (Best on Ground).
The Southport Sharks will make an announcement in due course about the appointment of the new women’s senior coach.
