Since 1961 the Southport Sharks have existed to grow the game of AFL on the Gold Coast. In 2020, we witnessed the game’s popularity skyrocket in South East Queensland.
The year has provided many challenges, particularly to our Victorian friends and colleagues who are doing it tough down south. Despite the frequent challenges, we were fortunate to have more than 75 AFL games played on local turf.
It was an honour for the entire Southport Sharks team to provide sporting, accommodation and food services for AFL umpires and several teams including North Melbourne Kangaroos, Essendon Bombers, West Coast Eagles and Geelong Cats.
Congratulations to the Queensland Government, AFL, the teams and our staff who worked tirelessly to provide an outstanding guest experience.
