Imagine 6 musicians, a whole lot of instruments and a crazy, almost barnyard type energy… we present to you, Round Mountain Girls. We caught up with the band to discuss their sound and story before they hit the main stage in August 2018.
How did the band get together?
Round Mountain Girls formed just over 10 years ago to play a couple of gigs at our local pub, purely for fun. Fortunately, we now get to play at Australia’s major festivals such as Bluesfest, National Folk Fest, Gympie Muster, Port Fairy Folk fest – still for fun! Round Mountain Girls toured the UK for the first-time last year, playing some large festivals like Beautiful Days. The band also took a trip through New Caledonia on Crusin’ Country 7 with the cream of Australia’s country music scene.
Is there a story behind the name of the band?
Originally the band was made up of our wives. They are all on maternity leave! We are filling in ‘till they return.
What can we expect from your show when you play at Sharks?
Sharks has been a great supporter of live music and of local artists. We will be playing songs from our new album, Meet You At The End, as well as some older Round Mountain Girls’ songs and some choice covers. For those who have not seen Round Mountain Girls yet, we are a five-piece, high-energy, feel-good band.
Round Mountain Girls will perform on the main stage on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 8.30pm. To find out more about the band, head to the Round Mountain Girls website.
As always, this show is free and non-members are welcome to attend. Sharks has free, live entertainment every Friday & Saturday night.
