Nine Southport QAFLW players have made the initial 40 player squad for the Queensland women’s representative team, that is playing Tasmania at North Hobart Oval on July 1.

Carly Remmos, Georgia Breward, Lilly Pearce, Maddy Watt, Maggie O’Connell, Rianna Schipp, Sarah Ingram, Selina Priest and Steph O’Brien are the nine Southport QAFLW players that have made the squad.

Southport’s General Manager of Football Operations, Jarrod Field, said, “Nine players in the initial squad is a testament to how we have started the season”.

“To represent the state is something really special, and it is exciting for our girls that may now get that opportunity.”

The Queensland team will begin training on May 31, and the final team will be selected the week leading into the match.

Former Brisbane Lions AFLW Captain Emma Zielke will coach the team.

Zielke said, “To have senior women’s state football back on the calendar is amazing for Queensland footy, and I’m proud to be leading this squad”.

Former Southport Coach Ryan Davis is one of Zielke’s Assistant Coaches. The other assistant coaches are Rebecca Randazzo and Kieran Daley.
