Former College Basketball player Charlton Offermans has joined the Sharks.
Originally from Townsville, Offermans played for the Rockhurst Hawks in Kansas City, Missouri from 2017 to 2020, before moving back to Australia.
Speaking about his time in the United States, Offermans said, “It was a dream of mine to play college basketball, so to be able to do that was awesome.”
He has now pivoted back to playing the sport he fell in love with when he was seventeen at school – Australian Football.
Offermans had been a part of the Suns Academy before heading to the United States, and for the last couple of years he has played for Labrador and the Brisbane Lions’ VFL team.
The next stage in his remarkable sporting journey is playing for the Southport Sharks.
“It’s a huge honour to be playing here and it is a club that I want to be at for a long time. So, hopefully, I can contribute to the team’s success.”
“I really want to learn and keep getting better, and I believe Sharks is a great place to do that.”
Steve Daniel said, “It is great to have Charlton on board. He has a great work ethic, and we look forward to seeing what he can do on our list this year.”
