Boyd Woodcock has won his first Doc Mackenzie Medal after being announced Southport’s VFL Best and Fairest on Friday Night at the Sharks Events Centre.
The midfielder finished runner-up to co-captain Jacob Dawson the past two seasons, but in his third year at the club, he finished on top of the count.
Defender Ben Jepson finished second in his first season at the club, whilst Jacob Dawson and Jesse Joyce finished equal third.
Joyce was awarded the Wally Fankhauser Memorial Trophy, given to the player who epitomises what it means to be a Southport player.
Last year’s Wally Fankhauser Memorial Trophy winner, Brayden Crossley, was named this year’s Gerry Carmody Best Finals Player for his terrific performances in the ruck across the Sharks four game finals campaign.
Matt McGuinness received the John Gonard Trademark Award, which is chosen based on players’ votes for who they believe best reflects the values of the club in the VFL program.
Fellow defender and promising young player Nick Williams was named the Ken McDonald Most Dedicated Player in his first season at the club.
