Northern Rivers product Jed Foggo has joined the Sharks for 2023.
The exciting big-bodied nineteen-year-old came to the club at the start of pre-season as a train on player but was offered a contract before Christmas.
Foggo said, “It’s really exciting to be offered a contract so early. I wasn’t expecting it but after not getting picked up in the draft this year, I am just glad I can make somewhere home.”
During his time at the Suns Academy Foggo played 12 games for the Gold Coast Sun’s VFL team.
He has also played 11 games for Palm Beach in the QAFL over the last two years.
There is still a fire in his belly still to get drafted, but he is happy to be playing VFL again.
“I am really happy to be here, but hopefully I can have a good year, and put my name out there.”
One player he is looking forward to playing with is Max Pescud.
“It was so good to see Max play well this year and it inspires me to try and do the same next year.”
Every game each standalone club must have three players under the age of 22 playing which is one reason Southport Coach Steve Daniel is very excited to have Foggo on the list.
Daniel said, “To have a player at his age and size combined with his experience on our list is fantastic.”
“We have already been so impressed with what we have seen of him at training, and we look forward to seeing what he can do on the field in 2023.”
