Five tips to assist you with maintaining and improving your health.
The team at Southport Sharks Health + Fitness have created a list, and some practical examples for each suggestion, to assist you on your wellness journey.
1. Aim to get at least 10,000 STEPS every day
- Park further away from your destination (think, shopping centre, at work, the school run).
- Instead of the lift, take the stairs – a great way to build a strong booty!
- Walk the dog
2. Always eat BREAKFAST
Breakfast is SO important. Eating breakfast gets your metabolism going, which helps you burn more during the day.
If you skip breakfast because you don’t have time in the morning, try setting your alarm 15-minutes earlier to allow time. Alternatively, prepare your breakfast the night before, if possible.
3. Have WATER on hand to drink consistently throughout the day
If you don’t get enough water in your body before your workout, you won’t get as much out of your hard work.
Blood contain an amount of water, and blood brings the oxygen to your muscles and brain. If you are not hydrated, it is harder for you to get oxygen to where it needs to be during your workout.
The more you sweat, the more water you should drink. If you drink coffee or alcohol, you should also up your water intake.
4. If MOTIVATION is something you know you struggle with, train with a friend.
Friends are ones we spend time with on the weekends and evenings, so extend that relationship into the gym. Set a plan with regular times to meet, as well as communicate each of your specific goals. Training with a friend brings out a higher level of accountability and can unleash the competitive spirit within.
Alternatively, our small group training program, S.FIT is an excellent way to start training with others, while maintaining a personalised fitness routine.
5. Allow yourself to indulge on SPECIAL occasions
This may mean the occasional pizza night, glass of wine, or chocolate bar. Moderation with consistency is the biggest key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, think long-term, not short-term.
