At Southport Sharks, our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility is part of who we are. From supporting local suppliers and community organisations to reducing our environmental footprint, we’re dedicated to creating positive, lasting change. Our goal is to build a sustainable business that not only delivers world-class sport, leisure and entertainment experiences, but also makes a difference for future generations.
Below are some of the initiatives we’ve proudly undertaken to support a cleaner, more inclusive, and more ethical future.
Championing Local Suppliers
We source high-quality, certified organic products from local farms including Fig Tree Organic Farm, Paul Graham’s Organic Farm and Sunforest Organic Farm. Supporting local means fresher produce, stronger communities, and a lighter environmental footprint.
Inclusive Accommodation at Mantra at Sharks
Accessibility matters. Mantra at Sharks proudly offers two specially designed accessibility room types, ensuring all guests can enjoy a comfortable and inclusive stay.
Solar Power for a Brighter Future
We’ve installed solar panels across the property, generating clean, renewable energy to help power the entire precinct. This major investment reduces our reliance on traditional electricity and supports our goal of becoming a more sustainable business.
Eco-Friendly Guest Options
Guests staying at Mantra at Sharks can choose an unserviced rate to reduce water and linen usage. For each of these bookings, a $1 donation is made to the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation.
Energy-Saving Technology
Greener Packaging & Products
Recycled & Bore Water Irrigation
Our main oval, junior ovals, Village Green and surrounding gardens are maintained with recycled and bore water. These systems are continuously reviewed to ensure efficiency, especially during dry seasons.
Rainwater Collection
Gardens around Mantra at Sharks are irrigated with rainwater via on-site tanks, reducing reliance on town water supplies.
Ongoing Air Conditioning Upgrades
We’re progressively replacing older systems with energy-efficient models that use environmentally friendly refrigerants – an ongoing investment in both comfort and sustainability.
Repurposing Lost Property & Amenities
Wherever possible, items such as power adaptors, partly-used toilet rolls and unopened amenities are reused or donated. A monthly supply of personal care items is provided to Rosies – Friends on the Street, supporting those in need across our local community.
Southport Sharks is continuously looking for new ways to be better – for our members, our community, and our planet. We believe that small actions, taken consistently, can lead to big impact. And we’re proud to keep playing our part.
