Southport Sharks has been named the 2025 Gold Coast Club of the Year at the 57th Gold Coast Sports Awards, proudly presented by Triple M.

Southport Sharks has been named the 2025 Gold Coast Club of the Year at the 57th Gold Coast Sports Awards, proudly presented by Triple M.

Decided by public vote, the award is a reflection of the support the club receives from its members and the wider Gold Coast community.

QAFLW Senior Women’s Coach Corey Gillie accepted the award on behalf of the club, acknowledging Sports Gold Coast and the event organisers while recognising the quality of fellow finalists.

“This award belongs to the entire Southport Sharks community — our players, coaches, staff, volunteers, members and partners. It’s something we’ve built together,” Gillie said.

The recognition follows a strong period for the club across multiple levels. The QAFLW program has secured two premierships in recent seasons, while the VFL side recently competed in a Grand Final, continuing to represent the Gold Coast at state league level.

At the same time, the club’s junior and Auskick programs remain a vital part of the Sharks’ identity. With strong local participation and the ongoing support of families and volunteers, the grassroots side of the club continues to play an important role in developing young players and fostering a sense of belonging.

Beyond football results, Southport Sharks remains focused on its broader community responsibility, supporting local causes through themed rounds, awareness initiatives and the Community Benefit Fund.

With the Masterplan redevelopment progressing — including upgraded facilities and dedicated infrastructure to support female sport — the club remains committed to steady, long-term growth.
