Join us in Mackenzie’s Sports Bar on the 10th November with Nick Riewoldt and Giaan Rooney, as Nick launches his new book, The Things That Make Us.

The former Southport Sharks player and now AFL legend will be interviewed by the former Olympic medallist, Giaan Rooney at 6.00pm. This event is free to Southport Sharks members and guests to attend, with light nibbles available and the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of Nick’s new book.

“I never wanted to write a ‘cookie-cutter’ footballer’s book—chronologically moving from the under 8s through to the big time, full of hard-ball gets, wins and losses, triumphs and disappointments. I chose the title, The Things that Make Us, because it made it easy to explore things we can all relate to, no matter what path our lives have taken.”

Number one pick in the 2000 AFL draft, six-time winner of St Kilda’s best and fairest award, five-time All Australian, captain of his club for a record 220 games and 336 games as a star of the AFL, Nick Riewoldt is an out-and-out champion. But he’s also a man whose intelligence and insight allow him a deeply fascinating perspective on his life and career. The Things that Make Us is Nick’s autobiography, and it’s as powerful, interesting and compelling as the author himself.

The Things That Make Us is Nick’s take on the events that made him the man he is today. From his childhood in Tasmania to the end of a distinguished AFL career, it’s all here: learning to live life under the spotlight and through a scandal, meeting his now-wife Catherine and starting a family, the devastating passing of his beloved sister Maddie and the great work done by the charitable foundation set up in her name.

Register your interest below and attend the book launch to go in the draw to win a signed copy of “The Things That Makes Us”.
