Mantra at Sharks is proud to have adopted a corporate social responsibility strategy through environmental best practices, alongside support of local businesses, partners and charitable organisations. Some of the initiatives Hotel General Manager, Gabby Daniels and the team have established to consider the environment and the community aim to address: water consumption, wastage and support for local charities.
The hotel opted to make soaps, vanity kits and sanitary bags available on request, rather than pre-supplied. This allows the hotel to reduce unnecessary wastage. Additionally, on a monthly basis, the hotel delivers any unused amenities and unclaimed lost property items to Roses – Friends on the Street – a charity working with people who are abandoned, marginalised, socially isolated within our communities.
The hotel has improved its efficiency through the establishment of environmental best practices. One initiative has been the introduction of an unserviced room rate which reduces linen usage, and secondly through the air conditioning units by implementing individual room temperature control.
Mantra at Sharks is committing to being environmentally responsible by reducing the hotels water consumption. The unserviced room rate, mentioned above, offers hotel guests on opportunity to assist with this initiative by allowing us retain water, a precious resources we look to conserving today for the future.
A donation for every unserviced room booking goes towards Southport Sharks Community Benefits Fund, with a focus on our existing charity partnership with the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation (GCHF) as many of our guests stay with us while family are in hospital. In April 2019, the offer to support the GCHF became available to guests.
