Here are five tips, with practical examples, from the team at Southport Sharks Health + Fitness to assist you in maintaining and improve your health.
Aim to get at least 10,000 STEPS every day
- Park further away from your destination – at the shopping centre or at work
- Instead of the lift, take the stairs – a great way to build a strong booty!
- Walk the dog
Always eat BREAKFAST
Breakfast is SO important. Eating breakfast gets your metabolism going, which helps you burn more during the day. If you skip breakfast because you don’t have time in the morning, try setting your alarm 15 minutes earlier to allow time. Alternatively, prepare your breakfast the night before, if possible.
Have WATER on hand to drink consistently throughout the day
If you don’t get enough water in your body before your workout, you won’t get as much out of your hard work. Blood brings oxygen to your muscles and brain. Blood is made up of quite a bit of water. If you are not hydrated, it is harder for you to get oxygen to where it needs to be. The more you sweat, the more water you should drink. If you drink coffee or alcohol, you should also up your water intake.
If MOTIVATION is something you know you struggle with, train with a friend.
Friends are ones we spend time with on the weekends and evenings, so extend that relationship into the gym. Set a plan with regular times to meet, as well as communicate each of your specific goals. Training with a friend brings out a higher level of accountability and can unleash the competitive spirit within. Why not even try a Personal Training session with a friend – the bonus is you save money with our Small Group Training Offer.
Allow yourself to indulge on SPECIAL occasions
This may mean the occasional pizza night, glass of wine, or chocolate bar. Moderation within consistency is the biggest key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The key is to think long-term, not short-term.
