SHARKS MAULED BY RAMPANT LIONS
The inequities of the NEAFL Competition were evident on Saturday when The Brisbane Lions visited Fankhauser Reserve with 22 listed AFL Players.
A blistering ten goal first quarter by the Lions effectively ended the contest and it was one-way traffic all afternoon. We were held scoreless in the second and last quarters, enroute to a record 150 point loss.
Our cause was not helped with Nick Crowley (Ribs), Cody Filewood (Knee), Andrew Boston (Ankle) and Brady Egan (Concussion) all out of action by the third quarter. This left us with one fit player on the bench.
Seb Tape worked really hard, Josh Baxter played his best game for the season and Ryan Pantic was solid in his first game for the club. Outside of these 3, not many players would have achieved the 6/10 performance that Coach Nathan Bock asked for prior to the game.
The challenge for the group now is to put the last 2 games behind us, head to Alice Springs on Saturday and find a way to beat the Thunder. With Todd Grayson & Isaac Franks due to return from injury, our season is on the line Saturday and we must get the 4 points.
